Eye examinations are free to those ordinarily resident in the UK or those who belong to one of the categories of exemption from NHS charges, set out in the NHS (Charges to Overseas Visitors) (Scotland) Regulations 1989.

You may be entitled to a NHS Optical Voucher, for help towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses. You may also be entitled to a voucher towards the cost of repair or replacement of your glasses or contact lenses.
