What are Bulk Transfers?
A bulk transfer occurs when a dentist transfers their list, or part of their list, of registered patients to another dentist.
A bulk transfer makes sure patients actively registered with a dentist have continued access to NHS dental services. This tends to happen, but not exclusively, when a dentist is leaving a practice or when a practice is closing.
What do I need to do?
To request a transfer of patients within the practice you must complete a GP209 form, available from your local
NHS Board. The completed form should be submitted to us, for the attention of Customer Administration, unless your NHS Board has requested you return it to them.
To request a transfer of patients outwith the practice you must complete a GP208 form, available from your local
NHS Board. The completed form should be returned to your NHS Board.
In both cases, the request should indicate if you are transferring the complete list of registered patients or only part of it, e.g. children only or adults only.
