Medical Services

Practitioner Services (Medical) is responsible for: -

• maintaining a record of patients registered with GP Practices
• making GMS contract payments to GP Practices
• transferring medical records between GP Practices
• ensuring the quality of data on the Community Health Index (CHI)
• payment verification of registration and payment data

We also support the Scottish Government Health Directorates (SGHD) in implementing legislative changes and new/revised contractual arrangements for Primary Care contractors.

These services are provided on behalf of NHS Boards in Scotland and are undertaken by operational teams from regional offices in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

In addition to the regional operational teams, there are teams based in Gyle Square, Edinburgh, providing central support.
