Practice visits are carried out as part of the Payment Verification process. These are pre-arranged with you, following discussions with the NHS Board about specific prescribing levels.
The practice visit will consist of a general discussion around processes and an examination of patient record cards. Copies will be taken of a selection of those record cards checked.
We also check that glasses provided to patients match what is claimed on the appropriate general ophthalmic service (GOS) voucher. The checking of a sample of glasses awaiting collection will usually be carried out as part of a practice visit.
