Payments for New Patient Services

NHS Circular PCA(P)(2008)17

Three separate payments will be made for provision of the new services. These are:

Smoking Cessation

The target date for commencement of the new service is 29th August 2008.

Monthly Availability for Service	£60 per month	Paid automatically to all contractors on the pharmaceutical list at 29/08/08 who are providing public health services	September dispensing payment onward
Monthly Capitation Payment*	A proportional share of a fixed monthly pool of £187,500 or a minimum capitation payment of £25 whichever is greater	Claim forms must be submitted to Practitioner Services by the 7th working day of the following month	Dispensing month of claim e.g. claims for November 08 will be paid with November dispensing payment schedule

To incentivise take up of the scheme, the payment will be a proportional share of a fixed monthly pool of £187,500. The proportional share will be based on the number of patients reported by a contractor as receiving treatment to the total number of patients reported by all contractors for the month concerned*

For example: If the total number of patients reported is 3000 the payment will be £62.50 per patient.

*For August, September and October 2008, the monthly payments will be pooled making combined payment of £562,500, which will be distributed with the October dispensing payment schedule

N.B. patients who are on current smoking cessation services can be transferred to the new service.

Community Pharmacy Scotland have produced an electronic claim form which must be received by Practitioner Services by the 7th day of the following month. Forms received after the 7th day will be included with the following month’s claims.

Sexual Health

Readiness and Administration PHS Sexual Health (Part B) *	£230.00 one off payment  - EHC	Paid automatically to all contractors on the pharmaceutical list at 29/08/08 who are providing public health services	August 08 dispensing (paid October 08)

Contractors will also receive monthly capitation payment payments of:

£25.00 for each intervention where the patient is provided with treatment for Chlamydia, and

£25.00 for each intervention where the patient is provided with EHC
